Joel S. Isaacson, Founder and CEO

Founder and CEO, Joel Isaacson, is considered by many to be a leader in the industry, helping clients and their families achieve their goals and sharing his knowledge with colleagues and the next generation of industry leaders. As a teacher as well as a practitioner, Joel is active in many industry organizations, having served on numerous boards and speaking on topics to share his insights, including: the New York Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning, now FPA; Chairman of the Personal Financial Planning Committee of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants; the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Estate Planning Council. He has taught financial and tax planning at New York University, The New School in New York City, and Iona College.

He holds a BS in accounting from Lehigh University and a MBA in financial planning from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.

Frequently named one of America’s Top Financial Advisors by Worth magazine, Joel is often quoted in financial publications such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Business Week and Fortune, as well as on radio and television.

In his spare time, Joel enjoys spending time with his family, taking in sporting and cultural events in and around the city, playing tennis and kayaking.

Stanley L. Altmark, Partner

Stanley L. Altmark, CPA, CFP®, PFS, is a Partner of the firm and its Chief Compliance Officer. Stan specializes in providing comprehensive financial and tax planning solutions to clients, often times developing multi-generational strategies that reflect the values and needs of the client, their children and grandchildren.

Stan is an active member of numerous industry associations and has served on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Financial Planning – New York Chapter. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, as well as the Estate Planning Council of NYC. Stan has frequently been selected as one of America’s Top Financial Advisors by Worth magazine. He has been quoted by the financial press and in financial publications on topics such as mutual fund investing strategies, asset allocation, life insurance and year-end tax planning.

Stan holds a BS in accounting from Franklin and Marshall College, and CFP certificates in financial planning from Adelphi University and the College for Financial Planning.

He lives in New Jersey and is active in his local community. Stan enjoys spending time with wife, Jill, and his daughter and son, often traveling with them to foreign places.

Larry Bolder, Senior Tax Manager

Larry Bolder, CPA, MBA, is a Senior Tax Manager in our tax department.  He has over 15 years of experience as a tax professional.  Larry specializes in tax planning and compliance for high net worth individuals.  He also has extensive accounting and business management experience.

Larry obtained his BA at American University in Washington, DC, and his MBA at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA.  He passed all four parts of the CPA exam at one time. Prior to obtaining his CPA, Larry earned the Enrolled Agent designation offered by the IRS.

In his spare time, Larry enjoys foreign travel with his wife & two daughters, as well as photography, hiking & tennis.

Thomas T. Fingleton, Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer, Tom is responsible for overall management of our day-to-day operations as well as leading firm wide initiatives.  Tom has over 20 years of operating and administrative experience within financial services, most recently as COO of CIT’s Capital Markets Group.  Prior to CIT, Tom was with Morgan Stanley where he held a number of senior strategy, planning and product roles.

Tom received his BBA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA from Fordham University.  He also obtained his NASD Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Tom lives on Long Island with his wife and three children.   He enjoys playing and watching all sports, coaching softball and spending time with friends and family.

Susan J. Park, Director

Susan began her career at Joel Isaacson & Co. in 2002. Her main areas of expertise include working with clients on their retirement, cash management/budgeting and tax planning. She proves to be a great resource and mentor for others at the firm.

She received her BA in economics at Wesleyan University. She also participated in the 12 College Exchange Program and attended Dartmouth College during her junior year. She interned at the Federal Reserve in the financial structure section, compiling and analyzing bank mergers and acquisitions for the database.

Robert E. Paul, Managing Director

Robert Paul, CFP®: At Joel Isaacson & Co, Robert counsels High Net Worth individuals in all areas of comprehensive financial planning, including: cash flow management, investment allocation and management, retirement planning, insurance and tax planning. Robert’s specialties include working with clients going through major life stage events such as individuals who have become newly independent due to a death or divorce, college funding plans and more.

Prior to joining Joel Isaacson & Co. in 1999, Robert spent two years with Dreyfus Financial Services, working in the Client Service & Sales Group, as well as the Quality Assurance Group. During his time at Dreyfus, Robert obtained the NASD Series 6, Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.

Robert is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) as well as the Knights of Columbus.

He received his BA from the State University of New York at Albany and his Certified Financial Planning license in 2003 after completing his coursework at the College for Financial Planning.

Robert lives on Long Island with his wife and two children.

David Peltz, Managing Director

David has spent his career at Joel Isaacson & Co. focusing his talents on providing exceptional client service & finding creative solutions to meet his clients specialized needs. He has expertise in various areas such as estate & tax planning, including multi-generational wealth transfer. David also works with corporate executives analyzing corporate benefit plans and maximizing the value of stock options, restricted stock and retirement plans. David received his BS in Finance from Hofstra University. He holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and is currently working towards a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) certification.

In his personal time, David enjoys golfing, skiing and spending time in Manhattan, where he lives with his wife.

Matthew Rapoport, Director

Matthew Rapoport CFP®, MBA, MST, joined Joel Isaacson & Co. in 2011 as a Director. Matthew has worked as a financial planner since 2003, providing financial counseling to high net worth individuals and families.  His areas of expertise include wealth transfer techniques, income tax planning and investment analytics.

Prior to joining Joel Isaacson & Co., Matthew was a member of the Investment Advice and Analytics (IAA) team at BNY Mellon Wealth Management.  IAA is a national resource for BNY Mellon clients providing wealth strategy guidance in the areas of income tax, investments, estate planning, corporate benefits and retirement.  Matthew has authored white papers and spoken nationally on topics including Roth IRAs and concentrated equity strategies.

Matthew obtained both his BS in Mathematics and his MBA in Finance from Union College in Schenectady, NY.  Recently, he received his MS in Taxation from Baruch College in New York City.

Matthew is a newlywed who lives in Babylon, NY with his wife.  He enjoys reading, cooking, running and working on his new home.

Martin Stein, Partner and Tax Director

Martin Stein, JD, CPA, CFP® is a Partner and Tax Director of the firm.

With over 30 years in the business, Marty is a seasoned tax professional. He is also admitted to practice as an attorney in the state of New York. In addition, Marty is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, as well as various other professional and civic organizations.

He holds a BS in accounting from Touro College and a law degree from Brooklyn Law School. Mr. Stein has a Certificate of Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning.

When he’s not hard at work, Marty enjoys spending time with his family in Brooklyn.

Lee Steinmetz, Partner and Tax Director

Lee Steinmetz, CPA, MBA, is a Partner and Tax Director who joined the firm in 1999. Lee brings over 30 years of experience in the business, specializing in tax and accounting for individuals, small businesses and retirement planning.

Lee is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).  He is a former Chairman of the Nassau County chapter of the NYSSCPA’s State and Local Taxation and Computer Usage committees, and has served on both its Executive Board and Board of Directors.  Lee has lectured for various business and professional organizations, including the NYSSCPA, and has been quoted in a variety of financial publications.

Lee holds a BBA degree in Accounting from Adelphi University and an MBA in Finance from Hofstra University.

Lee enjoys doing home renovations for himself and his friends on Long Island. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, skiing, playing golf and softball.
